Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel and Spa Sustainability Program

Greetings from Sithonia, Halkidiki, and the Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel and Spa!

We are excited to inform you about the recent successful implementation of our environmental initiatives focused on sustainable development. As one of the top 5-star hotels in Halkidiki, we are actively committed to continuously reducing our ecological footprint.

Our Sustainable Initiatives:

In recent years, we have self-financed actions that have exceeded €1,000,000.

The integrated program includes the following initiatives:

Construction of a 800 kW photovoltaic park: the construction of a large photovoltaic park covering many rooftops of the hotel, the roof of biological treatment building and the outdoor parking area, has been completed recently. This provides shade to 130 outdoor parking spaces for guests’ cars – the largest of its kind in a hotel in Greece – and covers about 65% of the hotel’s annual energy needs.

The annual environmental benefit of the park is the avoidance of 480 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to saving 680 mature trees.

Replacement of lamps with LED lights: all the external and internal areas of the hotel have been equipped with LED lamps, allowing energy savings, and reducing carbon emissions. In total, approximately 12,000 lamps have been replaced.

Upgrade of air conditioning units: the air conditioning units have been replaced with new inverter technology, which is much more energy-efficient. A total of 31 air conditioning units have been replaced.

Motion sensor usage: 82 motion sensors have been installed in the common areas, providing lighting only when needed and resulting in energy savings.

Solar energy for heating and hot water: solar collectors have been installed for heating both the central lagoon pool and the children’s pool, as well as for providing hot water to guests’ rooms. Additionally, solar water heaters have been installed in the hotel’s 60 staff rooms, contributing to a reduction in energy consumption.

Irrigation system: the hotel’s gardens, covering a total area of 38.000 m2, were equipped with a modern automatic irrigation system, thus saving water compared to traditional irrigation systems.

Water-saving filters installation: Water saving filters have been installed in the hotel’s taps in order to reduce water consumption.
